In blessing the field, President Emerita Sr. Mary Berchmans Hannan ’48 & ’50 asked for players to shine with sportsmanship and remember the grace in losing. She also thanked everyone whose dedication made the field possible.
Head of School Dan Kerns spoke about Sr. Mary de Sales McNabb ’48 for whom the field is named. She is a revered member of the Monastery, was an esteemed teacher for many years, and has always been the greatest advocate of sports (and the White Team).
The event concluded with Principal Mary Kate Blaine and Sr. Berchmans cutting the ceremonial ribbon, held by the senior Field Hockey players. The varsity team went on to claim the field’s first victory with a score of 2-1 over Brookewood.
